Obituary for Josephine Renfroe

Josephina Elsa Herrera Renfroe passed from this world September 29, 2017, at the age of 89 years and 6 months. She was born on March 19, 1928, to Angel and Enriqueta Herrera in Oaxaca, Oaxaca, Mexico. Josie, as most knew her, married C. Elmer Renfroe on March 31,1950. They were married 35 years. Elmer passed on March 19, 1985.
Josie is survived by three sons, Jack and wife Lana, John, and James and wife Mary; four grandchildren, Sarah, Chuck, Ryan and Matthew; and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Rebecca and Lucy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Josie attended school in Oaxaca where she studied finance. She started her numerous careers as a bank teller in Oaxaca. After she and Elmer moved to the United States in 1953, she worked at the VA hospital in Big Spring, TX. The family moved to Boerne in 1965, where Josie attended St. Mary’s University. She received her interior design credentials there. Once she retired as an interior designer, she started her favorite career as a caregiver to the elderly. She loved this job because she loved taking care of people. Josie was a long-time member of the Boerne Women’s Democratic Society.
We would like to give special thanks to Dr. Raj Cheruku and his staff at Concho Valley Regional Cancer Center. Also to Erika Rivas, Josie’s visiting angel, and Shirley Jones and Debbie Bishop of Hospice of San Angelo. A very Special thanks to the Bronte Rehab and Care center for the excellent care of Josie.
