Obituary for Peggy Goetz

Peggy Elizabeth Brown Goetz was born on September 2, 1936 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Fred and Juanita (Tippie) Brown. She died on October 30, 2017 in her home at Canyon Lake, Texas at the age of 81 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernard “Vernon” Walter Goetz (62) in November 1996, and her oldest grandson, Glenn Martin Wilke Jr (42) in August 2017.

Peggy traveled with her parents when she was young and spent most of her time with her grandparents, John and Annie Tippie, as she grew up. She moved to Shiner, Texas with her parents and graduated from Shiner High School where she met her husband, Vernon.

In 1960, the Goetz family moved to Boerne, Texas and lived there for over 50 years. Peggy worked as a pediatric nurse in San Antonio before moving to Boerne. For many years, Peggy worked alongside her husband, Vernon, as owners/operators of a bar-b-que / convenience store / gas station until they sold it. She then returned to pediatric nursing. She ended her working career running her trophy business from her home in Boerne and she finally retired in 2013, sold her house in Boerne and moved to Canyon Lake.

Some of Peggy’s favorite hobbies and interests have been cake decorating, painting scenic pictures and other items, cooking, plants, quilting, Facebook and pogo. She acquired many friends through the internet and really enjoyed meeting new people. About 3 years ago, Peggy learned about a group of Irish singers called Celtic Thunder. She thought they were amazing and fell in love with their music. She loved going to their concerts and two of the singers work together as Byrne and Kelly. Peggy was like an excited teenager when she finally got to meet her favorite Irish singers.

Peggy was very active in the Kendall County Fair Association and served as President of the Women’s Auxiliary for several years. She worked on two different cook books which were very successful. She loved working with everyone at the fairgrounds but especially loved working with the horse races.

Peggy is survived by her son Gene Goetz and his wife Janet; her daughter Trish Cornwell; her son Darryl Goetz and his wife Brenda; and her son Johnny Goetz and his wife Tracy. She is also survived by her grandchildren Amy Wilke Feser, Michael Goetz and his wife Heidi, Matthew Goetz and his wife Katie, Casey Goetz and Corey Goetz; her great-grandchildren Andrea Wilke, David Wilke and Adam Wilke (children of Glenn), Lindsey Feser and Devin Feser (children of Amy), Benjamin Goetz and Zachary Goetz (children of Michael), and most of all, her most faithful and loving companion that has been with her since 2004, her precious cat, Angel.

Peggy was loved by many and will be missed greatly! We thank GOD every day that we had the opportunity to be a part of her life.
