Obituary for Perry Truman Brixey

Perry Brixey was born in Galena, Kansas on September 10, 1923. He later moved to Joplin Missouri where he lived and was raised by his parents – David Ellis and Elisabeth Brixey – and his three siblings – Melvin, Betty, and Dwain. Perry joined the Navy in World War II and was stationed in the Pacific Theater. He returned from the war to attend college through the officer’s candidate school, graduating from Northwestern University in Chicago and receiving his commission in the Marine Corps. During this time he met and married Jennie Sue Palmer of Warrensburg, Missouri on December 23, 1945.
Perry and Jennie Sue had two children, Steven (born in 1947) and Jennifer (born in 1950). Perry continued his career in the Marines traveling to various duty stations in the states and around the world. Following a 20 year career, Perry retired from the Marines as a major in 1961. At this time, he also completed his master’s degree at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. After military retirement, Perry went to work with McDonnell Aircraft in St Louis, Missouri. His new aerospace career took him from St Louis to Wichita, Kansas to Gulfport, Mississippi and finally landing him in the Dallas Fort Worth area of Texas. He finished his second career with Vought Aeronautics at LTV.
His working career had ended, but moving and travel was still in his blood. From Dallas he moved several times throughout the great state of Texas. First he moved to Lake Whitney where Jennie Sue passed away in 1976. Perry remarried Lois Busby in 1977 to join him on his golfing excursions. After Lake Whitney they moved to Donna near the Mexican border and finally settling at Hilltop Lakes near College Station. They were always looking for a warmer area to practice their golf game. Perry resided at Hilltop Lakes until recently when he moved to Boerne near his daughter Jennifer for health reasons.
Perry is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his two children, Jennifer and Steven. Perry is being laid to rest with full military honors Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 10:15 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston national Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
