Gregory Lynn (Bernie) Werner, age 56, passed away at his home in Boerne, Texas, on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 after a courageous battle against cancer. He was born on September 25, 1953 to Ronald Landis Werner and Betty Anne (Stauffer) Werner in Cozad, Nebraska.
Greg was employed by Yellow Roadway Corporation for almost 28 years holding various positions in sales and operations. He loved the many opportunities he had to work with people from all areas of the country and valued the many friendships he made along the way. When he was not working, he liked to spend time with family and friends, golfing, hunting or enjoying a good meal. Greg was a member of the 1971 graduating class of Cozad, NE and a member of Concordia Lutheran Church of San Antonio.
Greg leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Sandy (Whitehead) Werner, of Boerne, TX; his daughter, Stephanie Lee Jensen of Spring Branch, TX and her husband, Chris; his daughter, Nicole Landis Taylor of San Antonio, TX and her husband, Lealand; his mother-in-law, Bette Whitehead of Cozad, NE. Greg was also blessed with 5 grandchildren, Austin Christopher, Emma RoseAnne, and Landis Renee Jensen, and Mason Gregory and Jackson Douglas Taylor. Greg was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Lee Whitehead.
A visitation will be held at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home in Boerne, TX from 3-5 PM on Sunday, March 21, 2010. The funeral service will be on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 10AM at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Tucker of Concordia Lutheran Church presiding. Interment will follow at the Boerne Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Boys Town TX or to the Concordia Lutheran Church in San Antonio, TX.
