Velma Moss Padget

Velma Irene Moss Padget, was born March 2, 1919, in Cyril, OK to Ocie Era Webb Moss and Ralph Alor Moss. She died in Boerne, TX, May 3, 2018 at age 99 years and 2 months. She married Homer Leon Padget, January 10,1938, in Marlow Oklahoma. She had 3 children Larry Gene Padget Oct. 30, 1938, Linda Maureen Padget Ligon Dec. 13, 1941, Leayh Irene Padget Graham Mar. 30 1946.
Velma is survived by daughters Linda Maureen Padget Ligon (John, PhD), Leayh Irene Padget Graham; grandchildren Barbara Padget, Larry Gene Padget Jr. MD (Alison, PhD), Cindy Padget Moon (Jason), Jon Daniel Ligon (Amy Shipley), Angela Marie Ligon
Shawn Graham Carr (Scott), Jenny Graham Arntson (Jeff) and Jodi Graham Harper (Justin, DVM); thirteen great-grandchildren Sloan Carr, Hadley Carr, Harper Carr, Lucinda Ligon, Sydney Ligon, Anne-Marie Padget, Luke Padget, Benjamin Moon, Sophie Arntson, Adam Arntson, Piper Arntson, Whitten Harper, and Truett Harper.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Ocie Moss; her husband H. L. Padget; her son Larry Padget, DO, and infant grandson Robert Leon Padget.
Velma graduated from Cyril High School in 1937. After many years and several moves, she moved to Lovington, NM where she opened and operated Padge’s Flowers for many years. She continued her education in Harrison, Arkansas where she earned her LVN degree in 198l. They then moved to Graham, TX where she worked at Walker Sayle Unit, Medical Department from Aug. 1994 to Dec. 2002. In 1997, she was awarded Employee of the Year at Walker Sayle. She retired from nursing in 2002.
During this time she began painting and was a prolific painter. Many people have been fortunate to receive one of her paintings. Even after her eyesight declined due to MDA, she continued painting. She was a very talented, loyal and fiercely independent woman.
Her memorial service will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Garden at the First Baptist Church of Boerne, TX. The service will be conducted by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
